Kernel update 1.7 Out now and On sale!


The new material for Kernel is here! Update 1.7 helps clarify some intended ways to play, flesh out the rules, and give some new dynamic rules!

Opportunity Dice

These handy dice will let the Game Director reward dynamic play and encourage players to think tactically and give a new wrinkle to resource management designed to feel positive. Rewarded for creating openings in a scenario, opportunity dice let players push through tough obstacles, combo foes, or just get an extra push in their encounter. Because they are awarded by the Game Director they can be used in all sorts of scenarios, but their impact in combat will add a new layer of tactical thinking.

Zone Mapping

Players often asked how they should map their games of Kernel, while I still think players can take whatever approach they like, I decided to give a detailed guide on how we did it during playtesting. Maps cut up into zones to be quickly positioned within and moved between.

Community Management
This update sees a complete retooling of how Communities work. Not only are they much more streamlined and easy to run, their mechanical impact will be up to the Game Director's discretion.  I CAN'T UNBOLD THIS TEXT SO JUST IMAGINE I'M REALLY EXCITED.

These changes also mean a new, simplified Community Sheet. So feel free to pick that up.
